Text description provided by the architects. The new building for the high school replaces a former auditorium, adding a significant amount of learning area. It smoothly curls between the existing main building and is connected by the atrium, the auditorium and on the upper level the biology, physics and chemistry classes. Key issues for this task were a healthy indoor climate, inviting architecture and an optimum integration in the green surroundings. More photographs and drawings following the break.
There is underfloor heating and a heat pump with the possibility of cooling. Fresh air is preheated and pumped into the building saving energy, and more importantly this technique provides a healthy indoor climate. The broad daylight limits the use of artificial light and provides a pleasant learning atmosphere. The contemporary look that is achieved partly by the bright violet-blue glass facade and slender "golden" frames gives the school a distinctive and welcoming place.
